COMPRESSION BARREL
Review by PaintballTimes.com

Here is a brief run down of
my impressions of the Compression Barrel. The barrel is definitely not
for the tournament player. It seems to me that the barrel was designed
with the woods/rec.-ball player in mind. Considering that paintball is
considered to be a recreational sport in general it would seem best to
design a barrel like this for the masses rather than the smaller group
known as the tournament players. Although the barrel is rather pricey,
the product that you receive is well constructed and well balanced. Here
are the highlights of this product:
- Silent shots.
In the woodsball end of
paintball, the sniper is generally misunderstood. Understand that a
sniper is not one who tags his/her opponents from great distances but
rather someone who is silent and patient in waiting for the kill. With
that in mind this barrel will compliment any sniper in the field as it
is the most silent barrel I have ever used. With my cocker the only
sound from the gun was the ram actuating the back block. Most will argue
that they too have found other barrels of this construction to be as
silent. Yes, this is true but none that I have ever used felt this
balanced and well constructed. If silent is what you need, then this
barrel is hands down the best buy if you wish to maintain a professional
look.
- Accuracy
The barrel performs as well
as any high-grade stainless barrel. Compared to the Boomstick, Phat
Barrel System and the Aluminum Freak, the barrel held it's own at the
chrono. The shot to shot readings were well within +/- 2 fps using a
high-grade medium bore paint. Understand however that in testing the
distance of the barrel I saw no results that would imply that this
barrel would be comparable to that of the Flatline. The manufacturer of
the barrel does say that there is an increased range in shots but they
do not say specifically what distance you may gain. However, what it may
not truly excel in with an increase in range, it makes up for in the
decible levels.
- Efficiency
As with the accuracy the
efficiency was above par with the proper paint to barrel match.
Considering that the barrel is ported in such a way to direct the force
of air, not only is it quiet but it decreases gas consumption. Using
cheap paint however may bring different results. I recommend that RPS or
TC paint be used, as they were the choices used in the testing of this
barrel.
- Looks/Design
The barrel is impressive in
both looks and design. I love the way it made my friends dust black
cocker look. A true "sniper" would come to appreciate the
looks. Design of the barrel is easy to maintain. Its two piece design
makes for an easy to clean barrel and something of a work of art. Most
of the older barrels that boasted of a silent shot were a pain to clean
as they were either plastic and sealed or needed a wrench to take apart.
The barrel itself is a single piece and well honed. The hone nearly
represented the same quality if not better than the Armson Stealth. The
outer piece or as I called it the muzzle was made of the same material
and tolerance very well. A perfect fit to the male piece. The foam
inside the muzzle was washable and easy to dry. In the end, I would go
as far as to say that this barrel is the "Boomstick" for the
sniper.
